Josh Elander to takeover Tennessee baseball after Tony Vitello heads to Giants

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – The University of Tennessee has selected Josh Elander as the next head coach of Vol baseball. The search for national championship-winning Tony Vitello’s replacement took just days before Vice Chancellor and Athletics Director Danny White announced Vitello’s second-in-command as the new coach.

“From the outset of this national search, Josh emerged as the undeniable top choice,” said White. “His relentless commitment has helped transform Tennessee baseball into a powerhouse, and we are proud to have him as our next head coach on Rocky Top. His influence inspires excellence in every aspect of our program and we look forward to continuing our quest for championships on the diamond under Josh’s guidance!”

Elander has spent eight seasons on staff with Tennessee and is entering his ninth. He was promoted to associate head coach in 2022, after the Vols’ record-setting season and is described as “instrumental” in building Tennessee baseball into the nationally recognized program it is today.
