Is Stranger Things Season 5 Comparable to Battle of the Bastards? Here’s Why the Duffer Brothers Believe It Will Capture the Essence of Game of Thrones.

Duffer Brothers claimed Stranger Things Season 5 is at par with Battle Of The Bastards
Stranger Things Season 5 is nearly upon us. Although Stranger Things and Game Of Thrones may exist in vastly different realms, the creators (Matt and Ross Duffer) are confident that viewers will be strikingly reminded of one of the most legendary episodes of GoT, Battle Of The Bastards, when they experience the season finale of their Netflix sensation. As the team behind Stranger Things, including creators and fans, prepares for the climactic showdown between Hawkins and Vecna in the forthcoming Season 5, much about the series’ conclusion hangs in the balance. With a nod to Battle Of The Bastards, one can only speculate on the grand scale of this web series.
Scope of Stranger Things Season 5
In a recent discussion with Empire, brothers Matt and Ross Duffer stated, “Now that we’re in the final season, we can fully unleash our creativity. We didn’t aim to wrap everything up neatly, but I believe we address most inquiries and conclude every storyline.”
Stranger Things Season 5 sees the return of actors Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Sadie Sink, among others. Set 18 months after Season 4, it will depict the significant confrontation between the show’s main heroes, who are determined to rescue their hometown, the fictional Hawkins, from the grasp of its arch-nemesis, Vecna. We caught a glimpse of Vecna’s chaos in the previous season, and if the creators are to be trusted, viewers can expect monumental battles.
About Battle Of The Bastards

For those unfamiliar, Battle Of The Bastards is the ninth and second-to-last episode of Game of Thrones Season 6. It centers on the titular conflict at Winterfell, pitting the united forces of House Bolton, Umber, and Karstark, commanded by Ramsay Bolton, against the combined forces of the free folk and the loyal houses of the North (Mormont, Mazin, Hornwood, and others), led by Jon Snow.
Duffer Bros draw parallels between Stranger Things finale and GoT
In the meantime, the Duffer brothers also expressed, “We aimed to craft a conclusive ending to this narrative.” Reflecting on the grand scale that is already being discussed at a cinematic level, the creators commented on the 8-episode season, and how it is expected to rival Game Of Thrones.
Matt Duffer remarked, “When we presented it to Netflix, we genuinely believed the scale would be comparable to Season 4. But, uh… that turned out to be an exaggeration,” He hinted at enormous battles that will “evoke the same emotions” as Battle Of The Bastards from Game Of Thrones. “Episode 4 and Episode 8 are just colossal,” The brothers referred to the fourth episode as “Sorcerer,” and described it as “the most logistically challenging shoot of our lives.”
