Storm threat continues into Sunday morning

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – Threat for strong to severe t-storms will continue overnight into Sunday morning. The weather should trend quieter for the second half of Sunday.

STORM THREAT OVERNIGHT

A cold front will approach the area triggering another round of widespread showers and t-storms.

Severe threat early Sunday includes all forms of severe weather, but overall threat remains low(WAFB)

A low end threat for severe weather will exist. Severe weather is not guaranteed, but one or two severe t-storms appears possible. All forms of severe weather will be possible.

The timing of these storms will be predominately before sunrise Sunday morning. Storms should move through fairly quickly. Periods of heavy rain could drop an additional 1-2″ of rain on top of what we saw Saturday. That means weekend rainfall totals could range between 1.5″ – 3″. Nuisance type flooding of mainly poorly drained roads could occur early Sunday.

THE REST OF SUNDAY

The weather forecast shows rapid improvement by late morning Sunday.

That’s good news for the last day of Boo at the Zoo. We still could see a stray shower or two, but most should stay dry for the rest of Sunday. Temperatures will remain comfortable staying in the 70°s.

HEADING TOWARDS HALLOWEEN

The weather stays quiet for the start of the upcoming work/school week. We’ll enjoy dry weather Monday and mainly dry weather Tuesday.

Everyone gets wet at some point Sunday morning. Then another cold front could trigger showers Tuesday into Wednesday(WAFB)

Yet another cold front will push through the area early Wednesday. This front won’t have a ton of moisture to work with so rain chances will remain slight.

What this front will contain is much cooler “Fall-Like” temperatures just in time for Halloween. Temperatures take about a 10-15 degree drop for lows and highs. That means we could see 60°s into 50°s for trick or treating temperatures.
