Salvation Army registering students for after school program in Fayetteville

Registration is open for the Salvation Army of the Sandhills’ after school program in Fayetteville.
The program, which operates Monday through Friday from 2:30 p.m. to 6 p.m., is designed to offer a safe and structured environment for students in first through eighth grades, the Salvation Army said in a news release.
There are 75 slots available. The registration fee is $25 per child, the release said, with a weekly fee of $60. A sibling discount is available.
Students participating in the program can expect:
- Homework help and tutoring
- Daily dinner
- Computer time
- Arts and crafts
- Devotionals and character-building lessons
- Recreational activities
Transportation is provided from Walker Spivey Elementary School and Lucile Souders Elementary School, and the Walker Spivey school bus drops off directly at the Salvation Army, the release said. Transportation slots are limited to 13.
The after-school program is located at 220 E. Russell St., across from the Cumberland County Courthouse and beside Bell’s Seed Store.

Angel Tree
The Salvation Army is also accepting applications for its 2025 Angel Tree Program through Oct. 31. Visit saangeltree.org to apply.
Families in need of Christmas assistance for children ages 17 and under are encouraged to apply online, a news release said, and will be asked to upload the following:
- Proof of ID for all adults in the household
- Birth certificate or Medicaid card (or proof of guardianship) for each child
- Proof of income and expenses for everyone in the household
