As a left wing-back, there are plenty of eyes on his performances as Ruben Amorim aims to introduce more specialists into his 3-4-3 system for the first team.

Leon, who stands out for his physicality despite still being a teenager, used all of his strength to score at Leigh Sports Village as part of a 4-1 win over Spurs.

Receiving the ball midway inside his own half, Leon skipped away from a challenge immediately, shielding his left-footed touch before bursting forward.

As he passed the halfway line, Leon had options to his right and left but chose to surge through the middle, streaking clear of two defenders with one big touch that took him into the box.

Leon was subbed shortly after with three Premier League 2 points sewn up.

This was just his third appearance for the U21s having also featured in the win over Liverpool in September and an EFL Cup loss to Barnsley last month.

United went 2-0 ahead with a double from promising striker Gabriele Biancheri before Callum Olusesi dragged one back for the visitors.

Leon restored the two-goal lead after the break and Biancheri rounded off his stellar day with a hat-trick in stoppage time.

Spurs had Malachi Hardy sent off in the last minute as well as he picked up two yellows in quick succession, capping off a tough afternoon.

Leon will now be hoping to make his senior debut, having been named on the bench by Amorim in three games already this season.
