Patrick Surtain injury update: Broncos star CB injured in Week 8 game vs. Cowboys

Top teams to watch ahead of the 2025 NFL trade deadline

USA TODAY Sports’ Joe Rivera and Chris Bumbaca break down which teams to keep an eye out for ahead of the November 4th NFL trade deadline.

The Denver Broncos are dealing with a key injury in their secondary in the early stages of their Week 9 game against the Dallas Cowboys.

Star cornerback Patrick Surtain suffered an apparent leg injury on Denver’s first defensive drive of the game. The injury occurred as he was breaking up a pass intended for George Pickens in the end zone.

After knocking the ball away, Surtain landed awkwardly on his right leg. He remained down after the play and received treatment from Denver’s medical staff.

Eventually, Surtain was able to get to his feet and slowly walked to the sideline with assistance from a couple of trainers. The Broncos did not immediately provide an update about the reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year’s status.

Surtain went to the blue medical tent with the help of the training staff and returned to the game on the following drive.
