Jaylen Brown status: Boston Celtics star upgraded for Pistons game

The Celtics upgraded both starters listed on the injury report ahead of their 3:30 p.m. Sunday game against the Pistons. Jaylen Brown went from questionable to available with his left hamstring strain reconditioning. Derrick White went from probable to available with his right ankle sprain.

Elsewhere, Luka Garza is also good to play after being in concussion protocols for the past few days. He missed the Knicks loss Friday after getting a hit in the head last week against the 76ers on opening night. Jayson Tatum remains out with his Achilles injury.

Brown suffered the hamstring strain in the preseason finale against the Raptors back on Oct. 15. He was fine to play against the Sixers on opening night, plus he wasn’t on the injury report ahead of the Knicks loss. However, with the Celtics having a back-to-back, playing the Pelicans on Monday, they could rest him for the second game.

The Celtics are 0-2 to start the season as they look to get into the victory column. The Pistons go into Sunday’s game 1-1, coming off an impressive road win over the Rockets last time out. It’ll be a tough test for the C’s against All-NBA guard Cade Cunningham as the Pistons were a playoff team last season.
