Panthers Undefeated Since Fans Put ‘MeowMix’ Podcast on Hiatus For Poor Play

Do the Carolina Panthers owe their recent success to two podcasters? It’s hard to argue with the results.
On Oct. 3, Stephen Costner and Jerry Dempster announced they were putting MeowMix: A Carolina Panthers Podcast on an indefinite hiatus in part because they were tired of devoting multiple hours of their week to a bad team.
With Sunday’s 13-6 victory over the New York Jets, Carolina is now on a three-game winning streak since that announcement.
The Panthers held the Jets to 220 yards of offense. Justin Fields was so bad (6-of-12 for 46 yards) that New York made a quarterback change at halftime.
Carolina wasn’t much better on that side of the ball but managed to set the tone with its ground game. Rico Dowdle and Chuba Hubbard combined for 110 yards on 31 carries.
The win may have come at a cost. ESPN’s David Newton reported quarterback Bryce Young suffered an ankle injury that jeopardizes his availability for a Week 8 matchup against the Buffalo Bills.
Carolina is certainly giving Costner and Dempster something more fun to talk about. In a cruel piece of irony, the podcast hosts may not want to bring MeowMix out of hiatus, lest they jinx anything.
