It started in 1950s Philadelphia, when police used the term to describe the chaos of post-Thanksgiving shopping and traffic. Retailers later flipped the meaning and now it marks the day businesses go ‘into the black’ with booming sales. In 2025, Black Friday is your opportunity to start Christmas shopping and stock up on the tech (you’ve been eyeing off all year) at bargain prices.

If you choose the My Telstra app, be sure to sign in (or sign up) ahead of time to make sure your personal details are up to date, that you’ve chosen a payment method that suits you and you opt in to Black Friday messages so you don’t miss a thing!
Delivery is free
Depending on where you live and stock availability, it can take between 3 – 7 business days. We usually process your order within 24 hours after you buy online. You’ll receive an email when your order leaves our warehouse, which will include a link and reference number to track your delivery. For some items, you can track your order online.

If you prefer an in-store experience, we recommend finding out where your local Telstra store is before Black Friday Sale starts. If you’re shopping for a smartphone, you can check on our website first to see if it’s in stock at your local store.
Also, at many Telstra stores, you can secure a place in the queue, via the My Telstra app and get an idea of the wait time before you arrive. We’ll SMS when it’s your turn and we’ll even hold your spot.

Flexible ways to pay
Pay now or pay later
You can pay now for your products in one payment – or pay later in interest-free repayments over 12 or 24 months, when you add them to a mobile or data plan. You can even add selected accessories to your bill and pay them off as you go. If you leave Telstra, simply pay out your device and any accessories you’ve added.
Trade-in for credit
Got an old phone or device collecting dust? Check out our trade-in program. We’ll assess it – and if it’s approved, we’ll credit your Telstra bill which you can then put towards something newer.

When you buy a new phone or device from us, then see it advertised cheaper somewhere else, you can claim the difference in price. We’ll need to see proof of the lower price and you’ll need to make your claim within 7 days of receiving your device.

What if I need to return, replace or get a refund on a product?
We always try to deliver to your expectations, however sometimes a product arrives faulty or damaged, the wrong colour/storage size, doesn’t work as promised or there could have been a payment mistake at checkout. For your peace of mind, you’re protected under Australian Consumer Law via your consumer rights. This also applies to services.
