GO Transit adds new train trips on Barrie, Stouffville and Lakeshore lines

Metrolinx announced this weekend that it is expanding GO train service on several lines during the morning and afternoon rush hour periods.

In a Sunday morning notice, Metrolinx stated that a new Barrie line trip will depart the Aurora GO station at 7:20 a.m., making all southbound stops before an 8:14 a.m. scheduled arrival at Toronto’s Union Station.

In the afternoon, a new train trip will depart Union Station at 4:53 p.m., making all northbound stops before arriving at Aurora.

Metrolinx also added train trips on the Stouffville, Lakeshore West, and Lakeshore East lines and adjusted service times on the Richmond Hill line.

A new Stouffville line train will serve stops between Unionville and Union Station, with 7:59 a.m. departures from Unionville and 8:40 a.m. arrivals at Union Station in the mornings. In the afternoons, it will depart at 4:50 p.m. from Union Station and arrive at 5:31 p.m. at Unionville.

At the same time, all southbound trains on the Richmond Hill line will depart seven minutes earlier.

Metrolinx says the new train trips are in response to ‘growing regional demand’ and will offer enhanced connectivity, while the Richmond Hill line was adjusted for ‘improved service reliability.’

The changes on the Barrie, Stouffville and Richmond Hill lines will be implemented as of Monday.

The expanded service along the Lakeshore lines will also take effect as of Monday, while the increased weekend service to Niagara Falls on the Lakeshore West line will begin next Saturday, November 1.
