Chhath Puja Bank Holiday Today 2025: Public and private banks in a few Indian cities will observe a closure today, Monday, October 27, on account of Chhath Puja (Evening Puja / Sandhya Agrhya), as per the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) 2025 holiday calendar.
Chhath Puja, also known as Surya Shashthi, Daala Puja, Daala Chhath, and more, is a sacred ancient Hindu festival dedicated to the Surya Dev (the Sun God) and Shashthi Devi, primarily celebrated in states of Bihar, Jharkhand, and Uttar Pradesh, as well as in parts of Nepal.
As the month is almost at the end, there were a total of 21 official bank holidays, designated for October 2025, under the Negotiable Instruments Act, including RTGS holidays and other regional and national holidays, in addition to the mandatory weekly days off on the second Saturday and Sunday of each month.
