Norrie will aim to be more efficient on return especially against the slightly more passive serving of Baez.
Playing styles and prediction
It’s been a very poor season from Baez who has only recorded five victories since the beginning of April. The Argentinian is known more for his clay court tennis but has even struggled on the red dirt this season. Now Baez will hope he can score one last big win to take some momentum into next season.
Norrie will aim to dictate play with the forehand and be aggressive on second serve return. Meanwhile, Baez will use the forehand to pin Norrie behind the baseline as there should be some very physical rallies in this match. This will be a physically demanding match with the courts set to be slower this year. In the end Norrie’s confidence and higher level of quality should see him into the second round.
Prediction: Norrie in three sets.
