Amanda Owen has told fans of a ‘blessing’ as she opens up on a major first in her career. From Yorkshire to Thailand, millions of people know Amanda shot to fame appearing in Channel 5’s documentary series Our Yorkshire Farm. The show gained a mass global audience.
It has inspired follow up television projects and other opportunities for Amanda and her family. Devoted viewers of the TV shows have greatly enjoyed learning about Amanda Owen and her nine children – who she has raised at a North Yorkshire farm with Clive Owen.
Born and bred in Huddersfield, Amanda, inspired by reading James Herriot stories, is known to millions of people for her farm-life at the 2,000-acre Ravenseat grounds. Amanda is a best-selling author of five books about her life as a shepherdess. Her latest offering is a collection of festive short stories for readers aged between seven and 11. The tales are inspired by day-to-day life in North Yorkshire at Ravenseat.
In a big first, Amanda has worked on her debut children’s book called Christmas Tales from The Farm. Opening up about her latest release, Amanda explained: “Being given the opportunity to write books, this time a children’s book and to be able to do television is a total and utter blessing.”

In addition, over the coming weeks, Amanda Owen will be on-tour with her theatre show Onwards and Upwards: Farming Family and Fiascos. Previewing the events, where she’ll discuss her career and family life, Amanda said: “It is a very exciting feeling.”
Giving a tease at fans being treated to behind-the-scenes chat, Amanda said: “Of course, there’s more to people than what you do see on the screen. As, literally, there’s so much going on, you can’t cover it all (in a TV show). I’m exceptionally proud of what we do and I know I’m incredibly lucky to be given these opportunities. I’m going to take them and see what I can do. You have one life and you have got to use it wisely.”
