Justin Bieber was spotted booing Shohei Ohtani with a thumbs down
All of Canada seemed to hold its breath and then groaned collectively as Shohei Ohtani ensured the World Series wouldn’t be handed over easily to Toronto, no matter how hot their bats get down the stretch of the postseason. Ohtani had Canadian pop royalty showing their frustration as he dominated in the batter’s box after total domination in a historic Game 1.
Justin Bieber was in attendance, decked out in a bright blue retro Blue Jays jersey, to watch his hometown team battle the Dodgers under the lights in Los Angeles. But as Ohtani turned the night into his personal highlight reel, the cameras found Bieber giving a clear thumbs-down to the man many already are anointing the greatest baseball player ever.
Ohtani came out swinging. In his first three at-bats, he recorded three hits, including a ground-rule double in the first, a solo home run in the third, and another double in the fifth.
His 389-foot blast to right field gave the Dodgers a 2-0 lead and sent fans into a frenzy of taunts after his performances in the previous games had already stood the test of time.

Bieber, however, looked less impressed than the rest of Dodger Stadium, just like Canadians online who saw their national anthem altered by one of their own Grammy-nominated artists. “Justin Bieber’s reaction was priceless,” one fan wrote online. “You can’t blame him, Ohtani’s doing things we ‘ve never seen before.”
As the game unfolded, the Blue Jays fought back with a three-run blast from Alejandro Kirk and a sacrifice fly that flipped the score in the fourth inning.
Los Angeles responded immediately, tying the game in the fifth thanks to another Ohtani double and a clutch single from Freddie Freeman.

Bo Bichette reclaimed the lead at the top of the fifth with an RBI single that brought home Vladimir Guerrero Jr., but Ohtani wasn’t finished.
In the bottom of the seventh, the two-time MVP crushed a 401-foot home run to straightaway center, tying the game at 5-5 and eventually sending it into extra innings.
Throughout the night, Bieber was shown pacing the aisles, chatting with fans, and occasionally holding his jersey up to the opposing crowd to show loyalty to his ballclub in an opposing environment. Bieber has long been tied to Toronto baseball lore.

In 2017, he was spotted at Dave & Buster’s in Hollywood wearing a No. 19 José Bautista jersey, and he’s been photographed in jerseys representing at least 10 MLB teams. Still, his allegiance to the Blue Jays has been well documented.
The 30-year-old Ontario native even performed at Rogers Center in 2020, the same year his hit song Peaches briefly became Bichettes walk-up music.
Alongside Bieber, stars like Adrian Beltre and actor Glen Powell were also in attendance to witness the historic series unfold.
