Government races to keep aluminium giant open as opposition blames energy policy

Australia’s biggest aluminium smelter, Tomago, in the New South Wales Hunter Valley, is considering shutting its doors within three years. The federal government has tried to secure the continued operations with a support package for one thousand workers, but the opposition says rising energy costs are sinking the industry.
