The Danish series follows Tea (Dessau), a young police officer who goes undercover as a jeweller. Tasked with infiltrating a criminal network, she befriends the wife (Cordsen) of an infamous drug smuggler, but the mission gets more dangerous the further she goes.

Featuring Afshin Firouzi and Nicolas Bro in supporting roles, The Asset was added to Netflix in its entirety earlier today, with the instalments ranging from 39 minutes to 50 minutes in duration.

What to Read Next

“The aspiring police cadet, Tea, goes undercover as a jeweller to infiltrate a brutal criminal environment that has eluded the grasp of the intelligence service for some time,” reads the logline (via Netflix).

“Adopting a completely new identity, she must befriend the criminal mastermind’s wife, Ashley, to gather crucial intelligence. As Tea gets closer to Ashley and witnesses the grim reality of her life under her husband’s control and within his criminal cobweb, doubts emerge about where her loyalty truly lies.”

The story for the drama was conceptualised by Adam August, with Frederik Ringtved and Samanou Acheche Sahlstrøm also serving as head writers. The latter directs the series alongside Kasper Barfoed, while Jacob Jarek and Marta Mleczek serve as producers.

“I was drawn to tell this story because it explores the complexities of identity and loyalty under extreme pressure,” said Sahlstrøm. “Through Tea’s journey, we see how far someone is willing to go to do what they believe is right – also, when the lines between good and evil become blurred.

“I have always wanted to work on a crime series that puts its characters, their development and their relations to each other at the very centre of the story. This is precisely what The Asset does.”

This Nordic noir isn’t the only series to be added to Netflix in recent days, with all 28 instalments of beloved detective drama Foyle’s War being made available on the streamer last week.
