Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao’s $900m fight was legacy-defining. Netflix is exploring a rematch

More than 10 years after their $US600 million fight ($AUD915m) – a Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao rematch is being explored for 2026 on Netflix, The Ring reports.
The 2015 fight generated a record 4.6 million pay-per-view buys, the most of all time, along with a record gate of $US72.2 million ($AUD110m) in Las Vegas but the bout was heavily criticised for its lack of entertainment.
Overall, the event reportedly approached $US600 million in revenue.

Pacquiao, 46, returned to boxing in a draw with Mario Barrios in a WBC welterweight title fight in July, with many observers lauding his performance.
The former eight-division champion announced earlier this month that he would return to the ring in January.

It’s unclear if that bout will take place now with the Mayweather fight a possibility.
Mayweather, 48, hasn’t boxed professionally since 2017 – a 10th-round TKO victory over UFC star Conor McGregor.
He has, however, participated in exhibitions, including a 2021 meeting with Logan Paul.
Netflix has show an interest in delivering boxing to its 300 million subscribers after hosting Mike Tyson-Jake Paul in November 2024, Katie Taylor-Amanda Serrano 3 in July and September’s Terence Crawford vs. Canelo Alvarez fight.
They will also stream an exhibition between Jake Paul and boxing star Gervonta Davis in November.
