The cause of an early morning fire at Kelsey’s Roadhouse restaurant in Owen Sound is being investigated.
City Fire Chief Phil Eagleson says Owen Sound Fire and Emergency Services responded to a report of a fire alarm system activation at the restaurant on the city’s east side shortly after 4 a.m.
He says 15 Owen Sound Fire Department staff responded to the 3rd alarm incident, and notes the fire was contained to a service area of the restaurant and damage to the building was minimized.
Eagleson says the Electrical Safety Authority and the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office are assisting the Owen Sound Fire Department with the ongoing investigation into the cause of the fire.
He says the restaurant is closed today while the investigation is underway.
Damage is estimated at $50,000.
The restaurant also suffered damage in a fire back in August of 2023 and had reopened in December 2024 after significant remediation work.
