Greenland officials find crash site of plane that went missing after leaving Labrador

ST. JOHN’S – Greenland police have located the crash site of a plane that went missing on Saturday after it had taken off from Happy Valley-Goose Bay, in Labrador.

Police say officials found the plane Monday on Sermitsiaq, a mountain about 15 kilometres northeast of Nuuk, Greenland’s capital.

A police news release says there was one person on board the small plane, though a spokesperson would not say if the person was killed.

The release says the crash site is in a location that is difficult to access and officials have not yet been able to get close to it.

Officials say weather conditions over the weekend complicated the search for the plane.

Greenland police are investigating the circumstances of the crash with aviation authorities.
