Giants’ Kayvon Thibodeaux Reportedly ‘Name to Watch’ in 2025 NFL Trade Deadline Rumors

A recent first-round pick reportedly could be on the verge of being moved ahead of the Nov. 4 trade deadline.
According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, New York Giants edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux is a “name to watch” as the deadline approaches, as “some around the league have wondered whether he’s part of New York’s long-term plans and if he could become available with the Giants sitting at 2-6.”
The No. 5 pick in the 2022 NFL draft, Thibodeaux has yet to live up to expectations with the Giants. After a promising sophomore campaign in which he finished with 11.5 sacks, he was limited to 12 games in 2024 due to a wrist injury and finished the year with just 5.5 sacks. Through the first eight games of this season, he’s recorded 21 total tackles and 2.5 sacks.
The Giants exercised the fifth-year option on Thibodeaux’s rookie contract, which will pay him $14.7 million for the 2025 season. That price could be too steep for New York if the 24-year-old doesn’t increase his production level. The team also added edge rusher Abdul Carter with the No. 3 pick in this year’s draft, so he would be able to fill the void if Thibodeaux is shipped away.
Thibodeaux should garner interest from teams that feel they could bring the best out of him if the Giants shop him around. However, Schultz noted that “movement has been slow” in the trade market for pass-rushers because “there are so many available options.”
The Giants have been trudging through a rebuild for the past few years, so it could be time to make some major changes that would bring in some assets for the future. It remains to be seen if New York wants to hold onto Thibodeaux as the franchise continues to move forward.
