The final rays of summer have officially faded, giving way to Britain’s infamously rainy, grey and gloomy weather. As a result, Britons can anticipate an extended spell of colder temperatures and damp conditions, with the Met Office forecasting unsettled weather ahead.
The Met office has announced a “changeable” end of the month and first part of November “with low pressure patterns”. This will result in spells of unsettled weather across the UK.
The UK’s national meteorological service subsequently announced that between Friday, October 31, and Sunday, November 9, there will be “showers or longer periods of rain will spread across most parts of the UK during this period”.

It further adds: “Some heavy rain is possible in all regions, but the largest totals will probably be across western areas. Strong winds are also likely at times, with a risk of gales.
“Between weather systems some short lived dry and bright intervals may develop, which bring the risk of overnight fog and frost. Temperatures overall though will probably be close to or slightly above average for the time of year.”
Moreover, from November 10 to November 24, the UK is expected to experience unsettled weather with rain and strong winds initially, followed by drier and calmer conditions later in the month, while temperatures remain around normal.
“During the second half of November, the most probable outcome is for increasing amounts of dry and fine weather, although with some overnight fog and frost,” the Met office shares.

“Any wetter spells are most likely to affect the north of the UK.” This update comes amid frosty weather maps signalling a cold snap across the UK in the coming days, with forecasts showing a chilly outlook nationwide on October 28.
The forecast suggests Scotland and northern England will bear the brunt of the chill, with several counties likely to face freezing conditions, the Daily Star previously reported. The Met Office also anticipates bouts of rain nationwide, particularly in the North-west.
Last week, the UK saw the arrival of Storm Benjamin, which swept across the country with gale-force winds reaching up to 75mph and heavy downpours.
At the time, forecasters warned that isolated areas in the East of England, including remote parts of Norfolk and Lincolnshire, could see up to four inches (90mm) of rain by 9pm and urged residents to prepare an emergency kit in case of flooding.
The unsettled weather shows no sign of letting up, as forecasters have already warned that Halloween will bring heavy downpours, gale-force winds and freezing temperatures, casting a gloomy shadow over trick-or-treat plans for millions of Brits.
