Management duo leave St Albans before FA Cup tie

St Albans City say they have been left “disappointed” after manager Ian Culverhouse and assistant boss Paul Bastock left the club.
The coaching duo departed Clarence Park just four days before their FA Cup first-round tie away to League One side Burton Albion.
“St Albans City FC is disappointed to confirm that Ian Culverhouse and Paul Bastock have departed the club in order to join another club,” the Saints posted on their website., external
“The club in question was asked out of courtesy if they would not approach Ian and Paul until after the FA Cup first round tie, however this request was ignored and Ian and Paul were given a deadline to reply.
“After reflection, and despite their hearts being with the club and the fact they would have loved to be in the dugout at Burton, Ian and Paul decided to leave City due to a variety of reasons including travel and these new roles being full time positions.
“The club thanks Ian and Paul for their work and wish them the best for the future.”
St Albans are currently 21st in the Isthmian League Premier Division but beat Banbury United earlier this month to reach Saturday’s first round proper of the FA Cup.
