Mutiny | Jason Statham action film set for summer 2026

Jason Statham is rampaging on a cargo ship in Mutiny – and it’s now set to arrive next summer. More details here.
While the upcoming The Beekeeper 2 comes together – not fast enough for my liking – Jason ‘The’ Statham has been putting together another action movie to keep us occupied.
This one goes by the name of Mutiny, and it involves The Statham going a bit Under Siege when he’s on a cargo ship and planning to avenge the death of his boss. The Statham plays Cole Reed in this one, in a picture he also produces.
The director is Jean-Francois Richet, who last steered Gerard Butler in the hugely enjoyable Plane. Before that, he had Mesrine and the 2005 remake of Assault On Precinct 13 on his CV.
J P Davis and Lindsay Michel have written the script, and Mutiny co-stars Annabelle Wallis, Jason Wong, Roland Moller and Adrian Leser. The film is in the can, too, having finished filming at the end of last year. There was was a possibility of an early 2026 release too. The start of the year was when The Beekeeper and Plane became surprise hits, certainly.
In the case of Mutiny though, the plan now is for a high summer Jason Statham release. Well, high-ish. Lionsgate has the US rights to the film, and it’s giving it a 21st August 2026 release in America. The UK rights are held by Sky Cinema, who will, I’m assuming, mirror the approach it deployed with both The Beekeeper and this year’s A Working Man, by going for a theatrical window first.
As for the potential gap left by a Statham movie at the start of 2026? Worry not, chums. There’s the small matter of Shelter, co-starring Bill Nighy and Naomi Ackie. Directed by Ric Roman Waugh (who’s also helmed Greenland and Angel Has Fallen, amongst others), that’s currently set for January. We’re awaiting confirmation of the UK release date, though, and will pass it on when we get it…
