One axed Celebrity Traitors scene could have turned everything around. Joe Wilkinson, who was the latest celebrity face to be murdered by The Traitors last week, has now opened up about the scene, which was left on the editing suite floor.
The comedian, 50, found himself being sent home by chat show host Jonathan Ross, comedian Alan Carr and musician Cat Burns, after he almost sniffed out who the Traitors on the show were. Joe was murdered in the night after the Faithful managed to turn on Stephen Fry, who was also banished – meaning the Traitors were once again safe from being sussed out.
Throughout his time on the show, Joe shared a number of theories about who had been behind the murders, but none of them had registered properly with the group. Now, he has opened up, admitting that he correctly guessed that Cat was a Traitor before he was sent home.

“The only reason I chose Cat in the end was because someone said, ‘Look at the person you think of least,'” he said. Joe went on to add: “You don’t really see it in the show, but I was hanging out with Cat quite a lot… Suddenly, I went, ‘Cat! Why do I trust Cat? It’s mainly because I’ve just been hanging out with her.”
Speaking to Metro, he revealed that he would not have picked Cat at the roundtable if he was still in the show, before saying: “I really liked her — she was just so cool and lovely to hang out with. So no, I wouldn’t have gone for her next.”
Joe was sent home alongside Stephen Fry and Line of Duty’s Mark Bonnar who were sent home. Mark was left fuming when he found out that Alan, Jonathan and Cat weren’t Faithful but were instead, Traitors. He appeared on the show’s spin-off, Uncloaked, and revealed he was shocked when he discovered who The Traitors were.

He was sent home after the Faithful voted equally against him and David Olusoga. With the pair receiving equal votes, the decision was made by the Chest of Chance, which delivered the ultimate blow.
While on the show, he was presented with a letter which had the names of the Traitors written on it. “Jonathan f***ing Ross!” he exclaimed, adding: “Well played, he is really good at it.” He continued: “Man, Cat, she is good. I thought she was 100 per cent Faithful. This is exhausting.”
When he discovered that Alan was, in fact, a Traitor, he said: “Oh, it’s Alan, well played though,” before throwing his head back in shock. Mark continued: “You know what, on our way out from the table, I was beside him and I glance at him and he was like [head down] and I never mentioned that again.”
Reflecting on his own exit, he said: “I’m really glad David’s a Faithful and I really hope he doesn’t go. I think he’s a real asset to them and I hope suspicions about him disappear very quickly. That I can’t see happening though.
“Having that roundtable decided by the Chest of Chance was very dramatic and it was very emotional. I got so caught up in it all, but I hope it was a good TV moment. Even though I was sad to go, I thought, well, they’ve never done that before!”
Celebrity Traitors returns on Wednesday at 9pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
