Dallas Stars, Thomas Harley finalizing eight-year contract extension

The Dallas Stars and defenceman Thomas Harley are finalizing an eight-year, $84.7 million contract extension, reports TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun.

The deal carries an average annual value of $10.5875 million.

The 24-year-old Harley is in his fifth season with the Stars and has one goal and seven assists for eight points in nine games so far in 2025-26.

He had 16 goals and 34 assists for 50 points in 78 games last season while averaging 23:23 of ice time. Harley also suited up for Canada at the 4 Nations Face-Off last February, tallying one assist in two games en route to a gold medal.

A native of Syracuse, N.Y., Harley was playing out the final year of a two-year, $8 million deal that carried a $4 million cap hit. He was scheduled to be a restricted free agent at the end of the season.

The Stars enter play Tuesday at 5-3-1 with 11 points in nine games, good for fourth in the Pacific Division.
