President Xi’s special envoy attends inauguration of Seychelles’ president

At the invitation of the Seychelles government, Chinese President Xi Jinping’s special envoy Gao Yunlong attended the inauguration of Seychelles’ President Patrick Herminie in Victoria on Sunday.

On Monday, Herminie met with the Chinese envoy in Victoria, the capital city. Gao, also vice chairperson of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, conveyed Xi’s warm greetings and best wishes.

China values the development of China-Seychelles relations and is ready to work with Seychelles to implement the outcomes of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Beijing Summit. This effort aims to turn the friendship between the two countries into more cooperative achievements that benefit both peoples and raise the bilateral strategic partnership to a new level, he said.

Herminie asked Gao to pass along his sincere greetings and well wishes to Xi, expressing his high appreciation for the global initiatives proposed by his Chinese counterpart.

Herminie said that Seychelles and China share a traditional friendship, emphasizing that Seychelles will continue to firmly uphold the one-China principle and deepen practical cooperation with China within frameworks such as the Belt and Road Initiative to foster greater development of bilateral relations.
