Deborah Cox and Rufus Wainwright Tapped to Perform “O Canada” at World Series Games in Los Angeles

JUNO-winning and Grammy-nominated Canadian artists Deborah Cox and Rufus Wainwright are set to represent their country as the Toronto Blue Jays play the Los Angeles Dodgers in Games 4 and 5 of the World Series. The next two games, set to take place in L.A., will feature the artists singing “O Canada,” with Cox for Game 4 and Wainwright for Game 5.
For the Dodgers side, performing the United States’ “The Star-Spangled Banner” will be American R&B artist Tinashe at Game 4 and Disney Descendants star Sofia Carson at Game 5
The Canadian national anthem was previously sung at the past three World Series games by Pharrell Williams and Voices of Fire at Game 1, Grammy-winning singer Alessia Cara at Game 2, and singer-songwriter JP Saxe at Game 3. Saxe ruffled some feathers by adopting Jully Black’s lyric change.
Just as the Blue Jays with their climb to the World Series, these Canadian artists are having a standout year, with Cox set to go on tour next month and Wainwright set to perform at the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame Légendes induction ceremony in Montreal next month.
