This game isn’t as interesting as it could have been. There’s always some intrigue when the Hornets take on an old pal, but Terry Rozier has gotten himself in quite a bit of hot water, if you hadn’t heard. He’s on indefinite leave and if I had to guess, it’s going to stay that way for the better part of forever. And no, you’re not getting your pick back, Miami fans. No takesies backsies.
Another fun thing in these early season games in particular is seeing some of the new rookie faces and how they’re adapting to the NBA, but Heat first round pick Kasparas Jakucionis is out too.
So we’re left with a typical Heaet team that I personally find kind of boring. There’s no one that’s going to take your breath away or do something crazy. It’s just a bunch of solid players that make up a solid team that will finish the regular season with a solid record. No more, no less.
Norman Powell has been really good. The Heat basically got him for free as the Jazz made some questionable moves to make their team worse. He is basically the Heat version of the Hornets trade for Collin Sexton. Bam Adebayo has had some decent box score stats but has curiously not blocked a single shot yet this season and is also hoisting a lot of threes by his standards. There are a bunch of role players that are going to try hard and be annoying and any one of them could cause problems for the Hornets.
The Hornets are a little dinged up, but they’ve looked really sharp through three games. They definitely have the firepower to make this a game, and how nice would it be to be 3-1 coming home for a little mini-homestand.
