Guerrero, Blue Jays dominate Dodgers to even World Series 2-2

Oct. 28 (UPI) — Vladimir Guerrero Jr. sent a Shohei Ohtani sweeper out of Dodger Stadium in the third inning of Game 4, helping the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday to even the World Series 2-2.

“It’s just one game at a time, one pitch at a time and thank God we we came out with a W today,” Guerrero said on the Fox broadcast.

Guerrero’s 395-foot, two-run blast gave the Blue Jays a 2-1 advantage in what became a 6-2 triumph in Los Angeles. The All-Star first baseman, who is hitting .419 this postseason, went 2 for 4 with two runs scored in Game 4.

The Dodgers will host the Blue Jays in Game 5 on Wednesday in Los Angeles.

Blue Jays starter Shane Bieber allowed just four hits and one run over 5 1/3 innings to keep the Dodgers offense quiet. Blue Jays relief pitchers Mason Fluharty, Chris Bassitt and Louis Varland combined to allow two hits and one run over the final 3 2/3 innings.

Veteran outfielder Enrique Hernandez brought in the game’s first run with an RBI sacrifice fly off Bieber in the bottom of the second. Guerrero proceeded to wallop a 395-foot, two-run homer off Dodgers starter Shohei Ohtani in the top of the next inning, and the Blue Jays never trailed again.

The Blue Jays added to their edge with a four-run seventh, which led to Ohtani’s exit from the mound. Ohtani, who took the mound after reaching base a record nine times as a hitter in the Dodgers’ 6-hour, 39-minute win in Game 3, allowed six hits and four runs over six innings in Game 4.
