Technical issue forces Singapore Airlines flight SQ228 to return to Melbourne

A Singapore Airlines flight has been forced to return to Melbourne shortly after take-off.

Pilots on flight SQ228, which was Singapore-bound, reported a technical issue to air traffic control.

No emergency was declared but it was serious enough to force the Boeing 777 to return to Melbourne, where it landed without any problem.

Video shared with 7NEWS showed the plane dumping fuel about two kilometres above homes in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs.
