Aemet updates the weather forecast for the Canary Islands: This is the situation on each island

Temperatures will remain stable across the archipelago today, with highs reaching 28°C in Tenerife and lows of around 19°C in El Hierro, according to the latest forecast from the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) for Tuesday, 28 October 2025.
Aemet highlights two key weather factors affecting the Canary Islands today:
- Very strong winds in mountainous and high-altitude areas, particularly in Tenerife.
- Abundant cloud cover and a chance of rain, especially in the west of La Palma.
Province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife
The forecast points to cloudy intervals, with skies more overcast in the east and south of the islands at dawn. As the afternoon progresses, clouds are expected to develop further, bringing the possibility of light, occasional rain.
Climate specialist Samuel Biener has warned of weather instability due to the arrival of fronts and storms, stating: “There will be showers in the Canary Islands.”
Temperatures will remain largely unchanged, peaking at 28°C in Tenerife and dropping to 19°C in El Hierro. The wind will initially be light to moderate from the northwest, gaining strength throughout the day. On eastern coasts, a breeze regime will dominate.
In mid-altitude and highland areas, particularly on Tenerife, the wind will be moderate to strong, with the potential for very strong gusts at times.
Province of Las Palmas
For Gran Canaria, Aemet forecasts cloudy intervals with high cloud cover, shifting from midday to cloud development mainly in the north and east, where light and occasional showers cannot be ruled out. On Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, skies will be mostly cloudy in the morning, tending towards clearer conditions in the afternoon.
Temperatures will remain stable throughout the province, with slight decreases only in higher areas. In Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, temperatures will range from 22°C (minimum) to 26°C (maximum).
The wind will be light and variable, dominated by breezes, later shifting to a westerly component in the afternoon. At higher elevations, the wind will be moderate from the west, with strong intervals during the second half of the day.
