Chargers’ secondary takes another hit with injury to Tarheeb Still

Cornerback Tarheeb Still suffered an MCL injury in the Chargers’ win over the Vikings in Week 8 that is likely to sideline him two to four weeks, according to NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero.

Still, the second-year player, suffered the injury in the second half of the Thursday night matchup. However, he wasn’t the only member in the secondary that went down, as safety Derwin James sustained a sprained ankle. It was reported that James could miss very little or no game time at all.

Still has played a key role in the defense up to this point in the season. He has tallied 31 tackles, two tackles for a loss, and six pass breakups in eight games.

With Still, the Chargers will likely turn to Ja’Sir Taylor. Taylor stepped in for Still when he got hurt, and he has the most experience in the slot cornerback position. They could also give Nikko Reed playing time in that role, despite most of his snaps coming on the outside in the preseason.
