M53 shut for hours as police called

The M53 was shut for hours on Tuesday (October 28) night after emergency services were called to an incident. Merseyside Police were called at around 9.50pm on Tuesday to reports of a concern for the safety of a man.
Officers attended the scene at junction four of the M53 motorway, near Clatterbridge. Road closures were put in place while officers dealt with the incident.
A man was detained and taken to hospital for assessment at around 1am. The road has since reopened.
