Jason Statham Is on the Hunt in First Images From His Long-Awaited Action Sequel

Jason Statham is officially back in action as new set photos from behind the scenes of his highly anticipated new action sequel have surfaced online. Statham lit the world on fire last year with his role as Adam Clay in The Beekeeper, the gripping action thriller from director David Ayer, following a former high-level operative who comes out of retirement to go back on a revenge tour when someone close to him is killed. The film was a hit for Amazon MGM, and it warranted the immediate greenlighting of a sequel, The Beekeeper 2, which just began production a few weeks ago.
David Ayer was unable to return to direct The Beekeeper 2 due to his prior commitment to helm Heart of the Beast, an action-adventure movie starring Brad Pitt and J.K. Simmons. He’s been replaced by Timo Tjahjanto, the V/H/S veteran who also recently directed Bob Odenkirk’s action sequel, Nobody 2. Tjahjanto shared the first image of him and Statham from the set of The Beekeeper 2 last week, but new set photos show Statham and co-stars Yara Shahidi and Emmy Raver-Lampman hard at work on the set of the action sequel.
The new Beekeeper 2 set images can be found here.
Amazon has yet to announce an official release date for The Beekeeper 2, but all signs point to a release window sometime in the second half of 2026. It likely won’t take long to wrap principal photography, but the post-production team will need a few months to ensure all choreography and visual effects are up to par. Still, Jason Statham fans have a lot to look forward to next year.
When Does Jason Statham’s New Movie Come Out?
Jason Statham will be seen in theaters in just a few months when Shelter comes out on January 30, 2026. The film comes from Greenland director Ric Roman Waugh. Statham will also be seen in Plane director Jean-François Richet’s next movie, Mutiny, which is set for release on August 21, 2026. The film was previously scheduled to premiere in January but was hit with a massive delay. It was announced ten years ago that Statham was in line to star in a new action movie set in the Hong Kong criminal underworld, but the project has seemingly been put to rest after years without updates.
