Scotland Women v Switzerland Women

Scotland 3 Switzerland 4
On Tuesday 28th October the Scotland Women’s National Team played a friendly at KDM Group East End Park against UEFA Women’s European Championship hosts, Switzerland at the home of Dunfermline. This was the first Women’s international at East End Park since April 2013 when Scotland defeated Wales 2-1. The Women’s international team had also played Norway at East End Park in August 2012, a match that was drawn 2-2.
Melissa Andreatta’s side was preparing for crucial FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifiers in February 2026. It follows the 2025 UEFA Nations League campaign earlier this year which ended positively with a hard-fought draw away to the Netherlands.
The match in Dunfermline also marks the first game in dark blue for the city’s own Caroline Weir following her Ballon D’Or nomination. The midfielder became the first ever Scottish women’s player to be nominated for the accolade. It was a special night for Caroline Weir with two assists and a stoppage time goal at East End Park. Unfortunately not enough as Switzerland and out on top in a seven goal thriller.
“That’s such a cool moment for me personally to score in front of the Norrie McCathie Stand,” Caroline told the Dunfermline Press said afterwards. “That is a dream of mine since I was really young, so, from a personal point of view, I’ve enjoyed every minute. Not just tonight, but coming here yesterday, match day minus one, and being around Dunfermline.
“For me, it’s been great. I think the girls have enjoyed it as well. I think the support tonight was amazing. The fans really showed up for us, helped us in the difficult moments in the match, and really got behind us when we were doing well. I’ve loved coming here and playing here.”
