Tua Tagovailoa’s wife, secret wedding and ‘disrespectful act’ against the couple

Tua Tagovailoa and his wife Annah have always been fiercely private about their personal life – starting with their secret wedding in 2022.

The Miami Dolphins quarterback and his wife tied the knot in July that year, but the news didn’t reach the public until weeks later.

The announcement came courtesy of radio host Andy Slater, who shared the news on X (formerly Twitter) on August 2, 2022. “SLATER SCOOP: Tua Tagovailoa has picked up another ring,” he wrote. “Congratulations to the Miami Dolphins’ QB who got married two weeks ago, a clergy source tells me.”

Tua acknowledged the leak the following day during a press conference, calling it “almost disrespectful.” “I mean, for me, I love to keep my life as private as possible and that’s what we tried to do with me, my wife, and my daily,” he said.

“But obviously in this world that’s not how it is. It’s almost kind of disrespectful by doing that but it is what it is. Can’t do anything about it. I have a wife.”

Since their wedding went public, the couple has occasionally shared glimpses of their life together on Instagram, while keeping many details private. They have welcomed two children, though photos of the little ones remain rare.

Annah, who was formerly Annah Gore, took her husband’s last name after they wed, updating her Instagram handle to @annahtagovailoa.

Despite marrying in 2022, the couple didn’t make their relationship official on social media until 2023. Annah posted a heartfelt message celebrating their first wedding anniversary, “Happy first anniversary to my best friend and husband! I love you,” accompanied by a photo of the couple embracing.

Tua also shared a now-deleted Instagram carousel featuring Annah smiling, with one shot clearly showing her wedding ring. “Never one to put my private life out there. But this one deserved a post. Happy 1 Year Anniversary to my beautiful wife. I love you,” he wrote.

The couple’s wedding came just days before Dolphins players returned for training camp on July 26, 2022. “It was very special,” Tua said, adding with a laugh, “I don’t know how it ended up leaking … he must’ve been waiting outside the courthouse for an entire week or something.”

Marriage has also changed Tua’s outlook on life. Speaking to reporters at training camp, he joked, “No girls for me I guess,” before adding that while his romantic perspective had shifted, his focus on football remained steadfast.

Tua has spoken about how fatherhood has deepened his connection to Miami.

“This definitely feels like home to me,” he said at a Tua Foundation event in April 2024.

“This is where both of my kids were born, where we are going to raise my family, with me and Annah. This is the city that chose me to be their quarterback. I’m very grateful, honored for that.”

While the couple keeps most family moments private, they did appear in photos shared by the Dolphins on Instagram when Tua signed his contract in July 2024.
