Singer’s epic take-down during award speech

Singer Billie Eilish, 23, has matched her uber-famous resting bitch face with some choice words aimed at a group of very powerful people during an industry event this week.
In a bold move that has been applauded by many, the Birds Of A Feather hit maker took the opportunity to lash out at rich people for not giving back to charity while accepting an honourable award at the WSJ Magazine Innovator Awards.
“We’re in a time right now when the world is really, really bad and really dark,” the Grammy Award-winner said while gripping her gong.
“People need empathy and help more than, kind of, ever, especially in our country. I’d say if you have money, it would be great to use it for good things and maybe give it to some people that need it.”
And then came the kicker.
“Love you all but there are a few people in here who have a lot more money than me,” she said sheepishly to a crowd of nervous laughter.
“If you’re a billionaire, why are you a billionaire?” she further questioned.
Eilish ended the speech with a simple message that summed up her message perfectly: “No hate but, yeah, give your money away, shorties!”
With big names such as Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg – who boasts a net worth of more than $225 billion, reportedly in attendance – there was no questioning who her comments might’ve been aimed at.
A whopping 7.8K comments landed on the WSJ Magazine Instagram account, where a clip of the speech was shared, and plenty praised the star for her bravery.
“That actually is courageous to say at Wall Street Journal. She is very socially conscious and another thing to admire about her,” one fan commented.
“You can tell she was nervous to say it but she did and good for her,” another wrote.
Another fan took the opportunity to do some maths, saying: “Her net worth of 50 million is only 0.01% of 500 billion, Elon Musks net worth. Or 2.38% of 2.1 billion, Taylor Swift’s net worth. Billie Eilish’s wealth is closer to that of an average minimum wage worker, or even homelessness, compared to that of a billionaire.”
A further impressed fan praised the star, claiming: “Billie truly is the voice of our generation️.”
While some questioned the singer for her own net worth and efforts in philanthropy, diehard fans were quick to point out that the star is actually very active in giving back to charities.
In fact, the star recently donated an impressive $11.5 million of proceeds from her Hit Me Hard and Soft tour to support various charitable organisations in food equity and climate change.
