‘American Horror Story’ Season 13 Cast: Ariana Grande, Jessica Lange

Season 13 of “American Horror Story” will be a major one.

Ariana Grande has been cast in the newest installation of the FX anthology series, reuniting with series creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk after starring in their short-lived horror comedy series “Scream Queens” a decade ago.

Additionally, Season 13 will feature the returns of several franchise regulars: Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd, Gabourey Sidibe and Leslie Grossman. (Roberts and Lourd also starred in “Scream Queens” alongside Grande.)

The news came from the Ryan Murphy Productions Instagram page, which posted a video of a black screen with the cast members’ names written in the “American Horror Story” signature font as Vera Lynn’s cover of “I’ll Be Seeing You” plays.

Lange’s casting is particularly notable, as the fan-favorite hasn’t appeared in “American Horror Story” since Season 8, 2018’s “Apocalypse.” The same is true of Bassett, Bates and Sidibe, while Peters and Paulson last appeared in Season 10, 2021’s “Double Feature.”

The reunion of so many past stars has caused fans to speculate that Season 13 may return to the story of a previous season, particularly Season 3, 2013’s “Coven.” “American Horror Story” previously reprised old characters in “Apocalypse,” which was a crossover of “Coven,” 2011’s “Murder House” (Season 1) and 2015’s “Hotel” (Season 5).

Season 12 of “American Horror Story” was titled “Delicate” and ran on FX from September 2023 to April 2024. The cast included Roberts, Lourd, Grossman, Kim Kardashian, Matt Czuchry, Annabelle Dexter-Jones, Michaela Jaé Rodriguez, Denis O’Hare, Cara Delevingne, Julie White and Maaz Ali. 20th Television produces “American Horror Story.”
