This subsequently sparked disruption for both television and streaming viewers eagerly awaiting the next instalment of the long running soap.
Corrie has been particularly momentous this week as has featured the highly-anticipated return of the popular character Eva Price.
The actress left the soap in 2018 to pursue other acting opportunities with her character choosing to depart from Weatherfield following the emotional turmoil of her ex fiance and daughter’s father Aidan commiting suicide.
Aidan’s suicide was a huge story at the time with soap wanting to raise awareness for the issue of male suicide and depression.
The next episode is set to continue the drama surrounding Eva and her newly arrived family, the Driscolls, and their takeover of the Rovers Return.
Why is Coronation Street not on ITVX?
The episode of Coronation Street that was scheduled for Wednesday, October 29, was unavailable on ITVX because the live television broadcast was cancelled.
The show typically airs on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings on ITV1.
Viewers who use the streaming service can usually watch the episode early from 7am on the day of transmission, but this was not the case today.
This disruption to the regular schedule occurred because ITV dedicated the prime-time slot to live sports coverage. The network decided to air a Carabao Cup football match between Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur instead.

As the TV broadcast was postponed, the early streaming access on ITVX was consequently withheld until the rescheduled date.
Despite the current disruption, it is worth noting that the general trend is for ITV to prioritise streaming access.
New episodes are routinely dropped on ITVX at 7am on scheduled broadcast days.
This strategy is part of ITV’s move to cater to modern viewing habits.

When is Coronation Street returning?
The delayed instalment will be broadcast on Thursday, October 30, 2025, in its regular evening time slot. The episode will air on ITV1 at 8pm GMT.
And will be live on ITVX from 7am on the day.
The highly-anticipated episode will continue a major new storyline that began this week with the return of Eva Price.
Eva and her partner Ben Driscoll have taken over the Rovers Return pub, and yet in typical soap opera fashion, the drama escalates when Ben’s mother, Maggie arrives to pay them a visit,
