Blue Jays’ Bo Bichette Makes Admission About His Future

The Toronto Blue Jays are just one win away from their first World Series title since 1993.

Toronto took down the Los Angeles Dodgers in Games 4 and 5 to move within one win of the title. The Blue Jays couldn’t close it out in Game 6, but they’ll play again for a title Saturday night in a winner-take-all Game 7.

Before Game 6 on Friday, though, a title pursuit wasn’t the only topic of conversation when star infielder Bo Bichette spoke to the media.

Bichette’s future continued to be brought up as he will be a free agent when the season ends — whether the Blue Jays hoist the World Series trophy or not. The two-time All-Star unsurprisingly said his focus is on winning the World Series, rather than his future, as transcribed by Sportsnet’s Blake Murphy.

“I’m trying to win (the) World Series,” Bichette said as transcribed by Murphy. “I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t thought about that at some point during the season, but I’ve got a World Series to win.”

Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet shared on social media as well that the current expectation is that Bichette will not require offseason surgery on his knee.

“Bo Bichette says he’s not anticipating needing off-season surgery on his knee,” Nicholson-Smith wrote.

Bichette triumphantly returned to the Blue Jays’ lineup in the World Series at second base after missing time dating back to Sept. 6 due to the knee injury. It’s a positive that he won’t need offseason surgery, but that is all a discussion for later.

Right now, the Blue Jays are one win away from history.
