Kelechi Iheanacho Celtic Rumours Put to Bed

Kelechi Iheanacho is not part of Celtic’s matchday squad for today’s League Cup semi-final against Rangers, but the striker was spotted travelling with the team to Hampden Park, confirming he remains very much part of the group.

The Nigerian international’s absence over the past few matches has been down to the injury picked up against Sturm Graz.

Martin O’Neill revealed on Friday that a late fitness decision would be made ahead of the derby.

Rumours began circulating online last night suggesting the forward had been released, but CeltsAreHere understands that those claims are completely false, and his being in the squad proves this.

Being on the team bus to Hampden confirms Iheanacho remains fully involved with the squad and continues to have the backing of the interim management team. SNS cameras picked him up.

The 29-year-old has been a bright spot since arriving in the summer, showing flashes of real quality and scoring important goals before his injury setback.

O’Neill’s men face Rangers at 2pm, live on Premier Sports 1, as they look to book a place in December’s League Cup Final and build on the momentum from Wednesday’s 4–0 win over Falkirk.

Hopefully, Johnny Kenny, stepping up in his absence, will be creating headlines with his goals this afternoon.
