Pelicans Trade Jordan Poole To The Minnesota Timberwolves

Listen, I like Jordan Poole, and that’s partially why this article was even written because of the progress we’ve seen from the 26-year-old guard from Wisconsin.
The New Orleans Pelicans currently have the worst record in the NBA at 0-4, and while they don’t have their own first round pick, they are in the midst of a “mini-rebuild”.
Zion Williamson is one of the most exciting and dominant players in the NBA, and they need to do everything in their power to capitalize on his youth, or else his prime will be wasted and he could request a trade.
Here’s why Jordan Poole should be a legit trade target for teams needing scoring in their backcourt like the Milwaukee Bucks or the Minnesota Timberwolves. This is a prediction, not a report.

Why Would New Orleans Trade Jordan Poole?
For as much we have raved about Poole, he is rather insignificant in the grand scheme of things for the Pelicans as they have much larger problems at hand. Poole is a quality player for them, but he isn’t a cornerstone that they can build their franchise around.
He’s shown to be a capable pairing next to Zion Williamson, but at $30 million per year, Poole isn’t getting them close to a championship.
Why Minnesota Would Trade for Poole
The toughest part of this proposal is figuring out what assets to send out in exchange for a player like Poole. Rob Dillingham is undoubtedly their best trade piece that they could easily part ways with, but the salary is the biggest problem.
Minnesota could seriously use another guard that can create offense to make life easier on Anthony Edwards as well as being an excellent spot-up three point shooter. They have Donte DiVincenzo, but he’s a much better fit coming off the bench, whereas Poole could slot right in next to Edwards as a starter.
Jordan Poole Stats
Through three games so far this season, Poole is averaging 20 points per game, while shooting 37.5% from three, and 3.7 assists per game. While these may seem like poor numbers, his playmaking has definitely improved as has his willingness to spread the ball.
Jordan Poole Contract
Poole is on the same contract extension that he signed with the Golden State Warriors, and his final year of his contract is next season (2026-2027) where he has a cap hit of $34 million.
