McDonald’s employee stabbed in Bangor; suspect charged

A man working at a Bangor McDonald’s was stabbed around 6:25 a.m. Sunday and is being treated for injuries that are not life-threatening, according to Bangor police.
Officers arrested Paul Bernard, 61, of Bangor, and charged him with elevated aggravated assault, a Class A felony, Detective Lt. Brent Beaulieu said.
Police and fire crews initially responded to a report that a male employee at the McDonald’s at 441 Main St. had been assaulted by an unknown man with a knife.
The victim was taken by ambulance to a local hospital.
Detectives and evidence technicians remained at the scene Sunday morning, and the restaurant was expected to be closed for several hours.
The investigation is ongoing. Police said no additional information is available at this time.
