Tika Montreal’s famous pet-influencer has died

Tika the Iggy, Montreal’s famous Italian greyhound fashionista has died.
Her dads posted about her passing on Instagram on Tuesday.
“I really thought you were going to live forever. I thought we had more time, but there are things we cannot control. Our hearts are shattered.”
Tika rose to fame through her Instagram account where she has 1.6 million followers.
She died shortly after a surgery to remove two tumours from her liver.
“The surgery went very well, and you were discharged from the clinic without complications. That first night we treated you to your favorite food and your recovery was going smoothly. We were so happy to have you home. But after your second day home, something had changed. You looked so tired, not quite yourself, yet peaceful,” her owners wrote on IG.
The post goes on to say this is “sadly a risk that comes with surgery on senior dogs.”
Tika spent her last moments at home, held by her dads.
“We feel numb and lost that you are gone, but we are so grateful you were surrounded by your family during your last moments. We wish you were still here. You were supposed to prance through your golden years. We just hope you know how deeply you were loved. By us, but also by so many others who came to know you,” the post concludes.
Tika was from Montreal but travelled the world in fashionable outfits, appearing at fashion shows in Milan, Paris, and New York. She was even referred to by Vogue as a “new fashion it girl.”
She was often seen in pictures with celebrities, even appearing on the Drew Barrymore show.
Not only did she make dog and fashion lovers smile, she also gave visibility to diverse families, coming from a home with two dads.
