Abandoned sailboat washes ashore on Rockaway Beach as storm slams Oregon coast
ROCKAWAY BEACH, Ore. — An abandoned sailboat washed up on Rockaway Beach Wednesday as a strong storm swept the Oregon coast.
Rockaway Beach Fire & Rescue confirmed that the boat was abandoned, and no one was onboard.
Video from the Tillamook County Pioneer’s Rockaway Beach reporter Robin Swain showed the vessel wash up on the beach.
The National Weather Service reported strong storms that produced thunder, and brought the chance of waterspouts and cloud rotation to parts of the coast.

“Stronger showers and thunderstorms will have the potential to produce locally damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph and/or a funnel cloud or brief tornado,” NWS Portland said in the statement.
The stormy weather is expected to stick around for the coast Wednesday, and be more mild for the Willamette Valley.
