Carys Douglas, daughter of Hollywood icons Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas, has shared her favourite places to visit in Wales in a new Vogue Travel interview.
The 22-year-old, who spent most of her childhood in the United States, reminisced about the summers she and her brother Dylan spent visiting their grandparents in their mother’s hometown of Mumbles, Swansea.
Carys revealed her top tips for visiting the area, from food recommendations and family favourites, to must-visit beaches.
“I feel so lucky that this is where I’m from,” she told the magazine, reflecting on the “weird but magical places” scattered across the Gower Peninsula.
A recent graduate of Brown University, where she studied film and international relations, the aspiring actress chose to spend the summer living between London and Wales.
“The Gower Peninsula is breathtaking,” she said.
“Langland and Caswell beaches are electric in summer and covered with picturesque houses. For dramatic landscapes, Worm’s Head is so romantic – but watch the tides – and Three Cliffs Bay is also stunning.”
She also offered some practical advice for visitors getting to grips with the famously unpredictable weather.
“You turn a cliff corner and suddenly it’s blazing sun, then pouring again,” she said.
“In New York, everyone is embarrassed to even carry an umbrella, but it is Wales, so you have to be realistic.”

Carys also spoke about her “theatrical” family’s traditions, recalling how “there’d be lots of little competitions for singing and pantomime shows all summer”.
“It’s true, the Welsh love to sing,” she explained.
No visit back, she said, is complete without stopping by her family’s favourite food spots.
“My family [is] from the Mumbles, so it has to be Johnnie’s Fish & Chips, then Joe’s Ice Cream.”
She credited her grandmother, Patricia, with introducing her to traditional Welsh cooking.
“My nana makes the best Sunday roast and Welsh cakes,” Carys said, describing the latter as “a bit like squashed scones but amazing in their own right.”
For those wanting to experience local culture, she recommended catching a show at Swansea’s Grand Theatre or the Dylan Thomas Theatre. As for souvenirs, she said she loves to buy handcrafted lovespoons to give to friends as keepsakes.
