Glenn Close has opened up about how she landed the role of Alex Forrest in Fatal Attraction, admitting she took a Valium before her audition because she was so nervous

Fatal Attraction’s Alex Forrest is arguably Glenn Close’s most legendary movie role, and she’s now revealed how she landed the part.
The 78 year old star discussed the film during her appearance on the newest episode of The Kardashians. Glenn was joined by her All’s Fair co-stars Kim Kardashian, Sarah Paulson and Niecy Nash for a Fatal Attraction viewing party at Kris Jenner’s mansion after Kim confessed she’d never watched the movie. Niecy’s wife Jessica Betts and Kris’ boyfriend Corey Gamble also participated in the evening.
The group assembled in Kris’ bar section while they enjoyed martinis. Before they got comfortable to view the film, Glenn declared, “I wanna tell you a couple of the little tidbits about it. Like how I got cast and all that kind of thing.”

She revealed, “Well, I was doing a play on Broadway and I had to let my understudy go on, which is a big deal, fly to LA. And my hair was long and wild and crazy. And I said, ‘What am I going to do with my hair?'”, reports the Express US.

Tossing her head wildly, Glenn went on, “And I finally said, ‘Oh f— it, I’m just gonna go like that.'”.
She then disclosed, “And I was so nervous I took a Valium.”
Sarah was stunned and yelled, “Get the hell out of here!”.
Glenn continued, “You know I don’t take Valium. So the fact that I took it…” before Sarah interrupted, “She’s a total drug addict. Just kidding.”
Glenn confessed she found it “crazy” to have taken a Valium and said she did it because she was “so nervous.”
When she walked into the audition room, Glenn detailed how a video camera was set up, with the film’s star Michael Douglas and director Adrian Lyne present for the audition.

Sarah humorously recalled, “So you walk in, Michael Douglas is there, Adrian Lyne is there, your hair’s all messy, you’re on a Valium and they’re like this is, this is our b—-.”
However, it wasn’t as straightforward as that. Glenn revealed that the producers didn’t even bother to attend her audition “because they were so convinced I was wrong.”
After her audition, she said Adrian “went down the hall and said, ‘I think, I think it’s her.'”.
She confessed that the audition process had been “traumatic,” explaining how she finds any film audition to be “horrible.”
Sarah concurred that it can be “so awful.”
Glenn also let slip a hilarious behind-the-scenes tidbit, revealing, “We started doing one of the scenes and Adrian would say, ‘Oh f— me old boots.'”.
Sarah was puzzled, with Glenn clarifying that Adrian used that phrase whenever he was pleased with their performance in a scene.
