Ricky Berwick seems ready for Kick move after Twitch streaming ban

Ricky Berwick has been banned from Twitch after using a derogatory term during a live stream, and it appears that he plans to continue streaming on a new platform: Kick.

Ricky Berwick is a content creator with a broad following across multiple social media platforms. As a streamer, he’s mostly known for his Just Chatting streams, with some occasional gaming on the side. Ricky first made a name for himself on YouTube with over-the-top reaction videos, and the same dry sense of humor that empowered those videos has since carried over to his streaming. Ricky’s comedy often leans self-deprecating, as the creator jokes about himself as much as anything or anyone else. His brand of comedy is provably something that millions of fans enjoy, even if it’s not for everyone.

On his latest stream on Twitch, the streamer got into trouble for going back at a viewer, and that seems to be leading him to a brand new streaming platform.

Why was Ricky Berwick banned on Twitch?

Ricky Berwick’s second Twitch ban came after he used a derogatory term towards a viewer who has sent a racial epithet through a text-to-speech feature.

On November 7, Ricky’s Twitch channel, which currently has over 39,600 followers, was suddenly banned without warning. For hours, the content creator’s fans demanded that Twitch unban his channel, assuming that the ban was in error. Ricky eventually to X to explain what had really happened and to confirm the reason behind his suspension.

According to the streamer, a viewer had misused a TTS chat feature by sending a slur. Ricky ended up being the one facing consequences however after firing back at the chatter with an offensive remark of his own. The language used by both Ricky and the viewer goes against Twitch’s
community guidelines.

The duration for Ricky’s ban is unknown, but it’s likely longer than a day since it’s his second ban on Twitch. It seems that won’t be keeping him from livestreaming, however.

Fans won’t have to wait for Ricky to have his suspension expire because he has already announced that he’s the latest major content creator
moving to Kick, at least for now. His Kick channel, though created a few years ago, has quickly gained quite a few followers following Ricky’s announcement.

As mentioned, this isn’t Ricky’s first ban from Twitch. He was previously suspended in 2023 after humping a stuffed animal on stream in exchange for more subscribers. In his defense, he was fully clothed, but the platform still issued a seven-day suspension for displaying sexually explicit and inappropriate content that was in violation of Twitch’s community guidelines. That wasn’t the first application of
Twitch’s ban rules
that generated mixed feedback around the streaming community, and as this latest incident shows, it certainly wasn’t to be the last.
