Olivia Rodrigo Slams Donald Trump’s DHS: “Don’t Ever Use My Songs To Promote Your Racist, Hateful Propaganda”

Olivia Rodrigo does not want to be associated with the ICE raids under the Donald Trump administration and sent them a clear message on social media.

After the Department of Homeland Security shared a video asking undocumented immigrants living in the U.S. to self-deport, Rodrigo fired back at them for using her song “All-American Bitch.”

“Don’t ever use my songs to promote your racist, hateful propaganda,” Rodrigo replied in the comments on the Instagram post.

The video that DHS shared on November 4 in a collaborative post with the White House Instagram account shows images of ICE detaining people of color.

“LEAVE NOW and self-deport using the CBP Home app. If you don’t, you will face the consequences,” reads the post.

Rodrigo’s “All-American Bitch,” a song off her second studio album Guts, which was released in 2023, plays in the background with the following lyrics: “All the time, I’m grateful all the time, I’m sexy and I’m kind, I’m pretty when I cry.”

Rodrigo is not the first artist to criticize the Trump administration for using their songs or content in social media posts.

Jess Glynne, the singer of “Hold My Hand,” which was used in the viral Jet2 Holiday sound, denounced a post made by the White House to promote deportations.

“This post honestly makes me sick,” Glynne wrote on Instagram. “My music is about love, unity, and spreading positivity — never about division or hate.”

The White House got on the viral social media trend using the “Jet2 holiday” sound and shared a video that said: “When ICE books you a one-way Jet2 holiday to deportation. Nothing beats it.”

Trump has targeted undocumented immigrants living in the United States, with the Department of Homeland Security saying in January it was ending a policy that restricted ICE agents from arresting undocumented people at houses of worship, schools, and hospitals.

In September, Theo Von asked the DHS to remove a video that quotes him saying, “Heard you got deported, dude — bye.” That comment had been recorded by Von when a fan told him her friend got deported and asked him to record a message.

Von had been Trump-friendly before the gruesome and heartbreaking videos of the ICE raids targeting working immigrants started going viral on social media.

“Yooo DHS i didnt approve to be used in this. I know you know my address so send a check. And please take this down and please keep me out of your ‘banger’ deportation videos,” Von wrote in a now-deleted tweet. “When it comes to immigration my thoughts and heart are alot more nuanced than this video allows. Bye!”

The DHS removed the video shortly after.
