Ruben Amorim’s tenure at Manchester United has been nothing short of a rollercoaster.
The Portuguese boss oversaw a disappointing 15th-place finish in the Premier League last season. And he looked down and out after the Red Devils crashed out of the Carabao Cup following a loss to Grimsby Town earlier this campaign.
However, a tactical switch away from his struggling three-back system has sparked a revival, with United winning three of their last four games. And the players are seemingly fully on-board with Amorim.
United icon Dimitar Berbatovwho is LiveScore and LiveScore Bet’s European Brand Ambassador, has backed this, highlighting a moment that, in his view, reveals the squad’s true feelings toward the manager. Speaking to Daily Star Sport , he said: “I think one of the things you can see is when someone scores a goal.
“The reaction after the goal – that sometimes speaks volumes about how the team is thinking, and what they’re thinking about the situation they’re in.

“If you’re under a lot of pressure, you need to win – you score a goal – if you see by the reaction everybody’s happy for each other, jumping, supporting, that emotion going out of them, it shows you that they’re all together.
“Of course, sometimes that stress, even though you’re together, can paralyse you – you don’t know how to react in different situations, different games.
“But in the case of United, I think they’re all together in this because they know that only together can they get out of a difficult situation.
“They support each other. And it starts with the manager, because he’s the guy who needs to give his ideas to the players so the players can go onto the pitch and perform for him.”

Berbatov joked he’s never been a manager, so couldn’t comment on if Amorim is the right man to take the Red Devils back to the summit of the Premier League.
However, he did say: “I know that it’s a really tough position for a manager because he needs to deal with 22–24 egos.
“And especially if you’re in a big team that winning mentality breeds big egos, it’s even more difficult to manage.
“So you need to know how to speak with each and everybody individually in a different way. How to calm and take control again of the way you do things.
“When you drop someone to the bench – explain to him why he’s there. Maybe he’s not agreeing with you, then you have a fight.

“Then you substitute someone during the game, he’s angry, he’s showing it – now again, you need to take control of the situation. So he’s under pressure as well, because he’s the manager of United.
“But I think that everybody – especially with the board of directors, Sir Jim Ratcliffe said recently that they are going to give him enough time to show that he is the man to take United again to the Premier League title.”
